Stories of Providence
Sister Virginia Ann Wolfzorn
Over the last 50 years, there have been so many ways in my prayer, ministry and everyday events that Providence has sustained me. Throughout my 50 years as a CDP, I have been involved in liturgical ministry as an organist, choir director and a member/chair of various Liturgy Committees. So it’s easy to see why music, liturgy and dance have always been an important part of my life and a “face of Providence” to me. I played the organ in all the parishes where I taught and at different intervals, was organist and choir director at St. Anne Convent. Even though I was often filled with fear and trepidation, especially on “big occasions”, I have come to appreciate more and more my music ministry. It opens me up to another dimension! It touches my soul and lifts my spirit; it is a communing with the God of my inner being. Even as numbers diminish at St. Anne and we all get older, the voices harmonize in sweet tones that enhance the liturgy! I have also enjoyed liturgical dance and used it as a medium to interpret scripture, songs, etc. It is a freeing experience that allows the Word to speak through my body. God Providence sings and dances within me and re-creates me in ways that “are above my understanding!” How marvelous is our Provident God!
