Called To Be A Face Of Providence!
Knowing YourselfThere are times and places when we feel alive and growing. God desires life for us, an abundance of life. Being aware of the relationships, activities and situations that are a source of life for us is the first element of discernment. When we are experiencing the deep joy of growing in God’s love, we feel energetic and generous. Life has meaning for us. We feel a freedom that allows us to give as well as receive. We are open to others—more tolerant and compassionate. Find some ways to keep track of these movements in your heart. Journaling helps some people. Be sure that you keep your journal free of self criticism. Just record the movements of your heart.
Ask yourself some basic questions.
- What do I most desire for my life?
- What are my fondest hope and greatest fear?
- What are the best relationships I‘ve had in my life? What fostered them?
- Can I be happy both with others and when I am alone?
- Do I see myself serving others? How?
- Are the sacraments part of my life?
- What is God like now and what has God been like for me in the past?
- What gifts would I bring to community and to ministry?
