Prayer

Have a regular time and place for prayer. Prayer is a relationship with God. All relationships require contact and honest communication. The best way to insure your fidelity to communication is to set a regular time for meeting and communing with God. Pick the time that works best for you – morning or evening.

Listen. Good communication is dialogical. You talk some but you listen as well. Practice quieting yourself and just listening to God speaking to you.

Learn and Use a Variety of Forms.

• read and pray with the scripture for daily Mass
• pray the liturgy of the hours, the psalms
• lectio divina, a prayer form that involves various approaches to a passage
• devotions such as the rosary or Eucharistic adoration
• centering prayer
• meditative reading of spiritual books
• pray with music

Attend Mass and Other Parish Prayer Opportunities.
