Our founder, Jean Martin Moye said to the first Sisters of Divine Providence in the late 1800’s: “The means you will use to help the poor will be to speak of their needs to those who could help them and beg from the rich what you need to relieve them.” Sisters continue to support the poor with their efforts on their behalf in numerous ways.
This year Pope Francis has proclaimed the First World Day of the Poor to be observed on the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, November 19, 2017.
His Holy Father states..."We are called to draw near to the poor, to encounter them, to meet their gaze, to embrace them and to let them feel the warmth of love that breaks through their solitude. Their outstretched hand is also an invitation to step out of our certainties and comforts to acknowledge the value of poverty itself."
